UP Government Unveils Subsidized Ration Scheme for Mahakumbh 2025

Prayagraj: In a move to support participants of Mahakumbh 2025, the Yogi Adityanath government has launched a subsidized ration scheme, offering essential supplies at highly discounted prices. The initiative aims to benefit thousands of Kalpvasis, Akharas, and institutions taking part in the grand event, which is expected to attract millions of devotees from across the country.

Under the scheme, flour will be available at a highly subsidized rate of Rs 5 per kilogram, rice at Rs 6 per kilogram, and sugar at Rs 18 per kilogram. This move is expected to provide significant relief to devotees, who often face challenges in accessing affordable food and other essential supplies during the Kumbh Mela.

To ensure seamless distribution of subsidized rations, the government has set up 138 fair price shops in the Mahakumbh area. These shops will be stocked with large quantities of essential supplies, including flour, rice, sugar, and other commodities. Additionally, five food storage warehouses have been prepared to store 6,000 metric tons of flour, 4,000 metric tons of rice, and 2,000 metric tons of sugar.

Each Kalpvasi will receive 3 kg of flour, 2 kg of rice, and 1 kg of sugar, available from January through February. This ration facility will be available to all registered Kalpvasis, who will be required to produce their registration cards to access the subsidized rations.

In addition to subsidized rations, the government has also made arrangements for cooking gas, with agencies appointed in all 25 sectors to provide new connections and refilling services. This move is expected to provide significant relief to devotees, who often face challenges in accessing cooking gas during the Kumbh Mela.

The “One Nation One Card” scheme will be implemented to ensure accessibility for all eligible beneficiaries. To further streamline the distribution process, each shop has been stocked with 100 quintals of goods to meet the daily needs of participants.

This initiative is part of the government’s efforts to make Mahakumbh 2025 a memorable and successful event. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has emphasized the need for comprehensive arrangements, including food requirements for devotees, to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for all participants.

The subsidized ration scheme is expected to benefit thousands of devotees, who will be able to access affordable food and other essential supplies during the Kumbh Mela.
