Ramu, Ghanshyam, and Radheshyam take devotees on a tour of Sangam
Prayagraj: As the Mahakumbh festival draws near, the banks of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, including the Sangam, are witnessing a surge in devotees gathering to take a holy dip. With over 15 days to go before the official start of the festival, the ghats are already abuzz with activity.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, camel rides have become a major attraction, especially among families visiting the Sangam. The camels, specially brought from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, offer a unique and enjoyable experience for visitors.
Decorated with colorful ornaments and equipped with padded seats, the camels are a delight for women and children. The camel owners have even given them charming names like Ramu, Ghanshyam, and Radheshyam.
On Christmas Day, a large crowd gathered at the Sangam, with families taking a sacred dip and enjoying the festive atmosphere. Food stalls were bustling with activity, and camel rides became a highlight on the roads near the riverbank.
The camels were sourced from the Pratapgarh fair and are priced between Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000. Devotees can enjoy a ride for a nominal fee of Rs 50 to Rs 100.
To facilitate easy payments, the camel owners have provided UPI barcode scanners tied around the camels’ necks, allowing visitors to make online payments.
As the Mahakumbh preparations continue, the camel rides have added a unique touch to the festive atmosphere, making it a memorable experience for devotees and visitors alike.
