Jagdalpur: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah met with individuals from Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Assam who have laid down their arms and joined the mainstream of society. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma.
Addressing the gathering, Shah emphasized the government’s commitment to reintegrating former Naxals into society. He highlighted that in 2019, many youth in Kashmir, the Northeast, and Naxalism-affected areas were ruining their lives by taking up arms, engaging in violence, and keeping their regions deprived of development.
However, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a decision was made to provide an opportunity for those willing to lay down their arms and reintegrate them into society. Shah shared that from 2019 to 2024, over 9,000 individuals in the Northeast alone have surrendered their weapons. Many youths in Naxalism-affected areas have also joined the mainstream, and the Government of India is formulating a comprehensive plan for their welfare and those suffering from the impact of Naxalism.
The Home Minister praised the Chhattisgarh government’s surrender policy as one of the best and expressed the intention to replicate this model nationwide. He urged the youth involved in violence to lay down their arms and embrace the mainstream of society.
Shah also highlighted the government’s efforts to promote development in Naxal-affected areas. He revealed that Prime Minister Modi has approved the construction of 15,000 houses in these regions. Additionally, the government is launching a program to establish dairy cooperatives by providing one cow or buffalo to every family in these areas.
The Union Home Minister expressed confidence that the government’s efforts will bear fruit and that many more youths will give up arms and choose the path of peace and development. He assured that those who have laid down their arms and joined the mainstream of society have placed their trust in Prime Minister Modi, and that trust will not be broken.
Shah emphasized that violence is not the solution and that those who have taken up arms must be reintegrated into society. He highlighted the importance of providing essential services like schools, dispensaries, hospitals, free food grains, electricity, toilets, and clean water to every village.
The Home Minister concluded his address by saying that the government is committed to restoring peace and development in Naxal-affected areas. He expressed confidence that with the combined efforts of the central and state governments, the region will soon become a model of harmony and development for the nation.
The event was a significant step towards promoting peace and development in Naxal-affected areas. The government’s efforts to reintegrate former Naxals into society and promote development in these regions are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of the people living in these areas.
