Japanese Cuisine Workshop to be Held in Goa, Aims to Establish Japanese Culinary Course in India
Panaji, Goa : In a bid to promote Japanese cuisine in India, the Japanese Cuisine and Dietary Culture Development Committee is set to hold a special Japanese cuisine workshop at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Goa. The workshop aims to establish a Japanese culinary course in India, promoting the country’s rich culinary culture.
The workshop will feature renowned Japanese chefs and experts, including Brehadeesh Kumar, owner-chef of Gingko, a Japanese food and ingredient supporter store overseas. Kumar holds a Bronze certificate in “Certification of Cooking Skills for Japanese Cuisine in Foreign Countries” from the Ministry of Japan.
Kiyoyuki Ichimaida, a professor of Japanese Cuisine at Hattori Nutrition College, will serve as a special lecturer from Japan. Ichimaida has trained at several prestigious culinary institutions, including Kansai cuisine IRAKA and Tokyo NADAMAN. He has also won the International Tuna Cooking Competition in Italy in 2005.
Haruyuki Yamashita, owner and executive chef of HAL YAMASHITA, will oversee the workshop as a Japanese Master Chef. Yamashita has established a trend in “New Japanese Cuisine” with his cooking method that brings out the best of the ingredients. He has participated in the World Gourmet Summit as Japan’s representative Master Chef in Singapore in 2010 and in UAE in 2012.
The workshop is a significant step towards promoting Japanese cuisine in India and establishing a formal Japanese culinary course in the country. The event is expected to attract culinary enthusiasts, chefs, and hospitality professionals from across India.

The workshop is scheduled to take place on December 11, at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Goa.
