In a historic move to empower women in national security, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has sanctioned the establishment of the first all-women battalion for the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), comprising 1,025 personnel led by a senior commandant-rank officer. This development aims to enhance women’s roles in national security and encourage more young women to join the CISF.
Women currently constitute over 7% of the CISF force, making it a preferred choice for those seeking to serve the nation in the Central Armed Police Force. This new battalion is expected to give women in CISF a new identity and inspire more aspiring young women to join.
CISF headquarters has initiated preparations for recruiting, training, and selecting a location for its inaugural all-women battalion. This elite battalion will undergo specialized training to excel in diverse roles, including VIP security, airport security, and Delhi Metro Rail duties.
The Union Home Minister’s directive during the 53rd CISF Day function sparked the proposal for creating all-women battalions within the force.
