Jammu and Kashmir Stands United: Candlelight March in Kupwara for Sonamarg Victims
Candlelight March Held in Kupwara to Protest Civilian Killings in Sonamarg
Kupwara witnessed a somber Candlelight March yesterday evening, condemning the brutal killing of seven civilians in Sonamarg, a picturesque hill station in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, on Sunday evening.
Civil Society Kupwara organized the march to denounce the senseless killings, which claimed the lives of a local doctor and six non-local workers in a militant attack at a construction site.
Protesters gathered at the Bus stand and marched through the bypass, culminating at the Martyr’s Memorial in Rigipora. The vigil expressed solidarity with the victims’ families and condemned the attack as a stark violation of humanity.
The protesters emphasized that killing innocent civilians is a heinous crime that must be punished, stressing that it’s against the ethos of humanity. They demanded justice for the victims and their families.
Sonamarg, a popular tourist destination, has been marred by the attack, highlighting the need for increased security measures to protect civilians.
The Candlelight March served as a poignant reminder of the human cost of violence and the importance of upholding human rights. As the region mourns the loss of innocent lives, the protesters’ message resonates: justice must be served, and humanity must be protected.
