Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron Makes Historic Visit to Bahrain and UAE
The Indian Navy’s First Training Squadron (1TS), comprising INS Tir and ICGS Veera, arrived at the Port of Manama in Bahrain on October 12, 2024. This visit is part of the Long Range Training Deployment in the Persian Gulf, aimed at enhancing naval cooperation, interoperability, and maritime security.
During the port call, the Indian Navy will engage with the Royal Bahrain Naval Forces (RBNF) in various domains of maritime operations and best shared practices. Professional interactions, cross-ship visits, joint training sessions, yoga sessions, band concerts, friendly sports fixtures, social interactions, and community welfare activities are planned.
A coordination meeting between the operational teams of both navies will plan and conduct a Maritime Partnership Exercise. Training interaction with the partners of Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) will also feature during the visit.
Simultaneously, INS Shardul, another vessel of the 1TS, docked at Port Rashid in Dubai, UAE. The ship was received by the Defence Attaché at the Embassy of India and officials of the UAE Navy. The ship will engage with the UAE Navy in multiple training activities and harbour interactions.
This deployment aims to expose sea trainees to various naval training activities, further socio-political, military, and maritime linkages, and bolster defence relations between India, Bahrain, and the UAE. The visit underscores India’s commitment to maritime security cooperation and enhanced synergy amongst navies in the region.
