Israel’s Ambassador Reflects on Last Year’s Tragic Events, Vows to Rebuild and Prevail
In a poignant speech at the 7.10 memorial event, Israel’s Ambassador Reuven Azar honored the victims of the devastating attacks that shook the nation on October 7, 2023. The Ambassador Azar recollected the horrific scenes of murder, kidnapping, and burning, and the subsequent celebrations in Gaza, which left the world stunned.
The Ambassador reflected on the magnitude of the catastrophe, questioning how such atrocities could occur and how human beings could behave worse than animals. These terrorists were killing and boasting about it, under written directives to terrorize and show-off.
The Ambassador acknowledged the unbearable suffering of the surviving victims, their families, and the bereaved families of those brutally murdered or killed in battle. Despite the paralyzing trauma, the Ambassador affirmed Israel’s resilience and determination to take swift action.
Drawing parallels with the 1973 surprise attack, the Ambassador noted that the 2023 incident was worse, as the basic contract between citizens and the state was breached. However, among the somber reflections, the Ambassador shared a message of hope and resilience.
Tens of thousands of Israelis returned from abroad to join the fight for defense, while hundreds of thousands volunteered to support victims, families, soldiers, and the economy. The Ambassador praised Israel’s young generation, saying they outperformed beyond expectation despite being failed.
The Ambassador concluded with a vow to prevail, defeat enemies, bring back hostages, learn from mistakes, and continue contributing to humanity. “We will live in our land as a free, democratic, and sovereign nation,” the Ambassador declared. “We will continue to thrive and push for a secure peace with our neighbors.”
The Ambassador expressed gratitude for India’s support, acknowledging their shared struggle against terrorism. The speech concluded with a heartfelt prayer, “May God grant courage to its People, May God bless its People with Peace.”
