Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University Hosts Debate Competition on New Education Policy
Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University recently organized a debate competition on “New Education Policy: Opportunities and Challenges” as part of its 39th convocation week. Chief guest Draupadi Yadav emphasized the significance of the new education policy, highlighting its potential to transform the Indian education system. Yadav noted that while the policy presents numerous opportunities for student development, it also poses challenges that must be addressed.
Dr. Kuldeep Singh Chauhan praised the policy’s emphasis on experimentation and practical knowledge, stating that it provides new opportunities for teaching and learning. Dr. Yogendra Kumar Pandey stressed its role in fostering self-reliance and creativity among students.
The debate competition saw enthusiastic participation from students. Aditya Singh from MAJMC secured the top spot, followed by Shivendra Singh from BAJMC and Shreya Tiwari from the Library and Information Science department.
A distinguished panel of judges, including Dr. Jitendra Dabral, Dr. Om Shankar Gupta, and Dr. Diwakar Awasthi, evaluated the presentations. Dr. Jitendra Dabral presided over the program, emphasizing that education is essential for physical and mental development.
Dr. Rashmi Gautam, program coordinator, noted that education gives positive direction to life values and provides resources for living. Prem Kishore Shukla highlighted that education is not only a means of livelihood but also a source of knowledge, made possible by the New Education Policy 2020.
Students, including Swati, Sneha, and others, actively contributed to the discussion, sharing insightful views on the policy. Sagar Kanojia and Ratan Kushwaha handled photography, while Shivendra Singh ensured the program’s smooth execution.
The event showcased the university’s commitment to promoting critical thinking and intellectual discourse among its students, inspiring them to leverage the New Education Policy for a brighter tomorrow.
“Human Values Over Material Wealth: Dr. Neha Shukla Inspires Students”
The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Kanpur, recently hosted a lecture on promoting universal human values. Keynote speaker Dr. Neha Shukla emphasized the significance of prioritizing human values over material possessions.
Dr. Shukla stressed that relationships are the foundation of life, and without them, everything remains incomplete. “We should prioritize human values and relationships over money and facilities,” she urged.
According to Dr. Shukla, human values are essential for individuals, families, societies, and educational institutions. “Education and values combined form human value, with education being the pivot of universal values,” she added.
Dr. Jitendra Dabral, Coordinator of Human Values, highlighted the importance of understanding individual responsibilities. “Man is a social animal; becoming socially useful is crucial for coexisting in society,” he said.
Department Coordinator Dr. Rashmi Gautam emphasized that human values are vital for a developed society. “Treating each other with sensitivity and human values is essential,” she stressed.
Faculty members Dr. Omshankar Gupta, Dr. Diwakar Awasthi, and Dr. Vishal Sharma attended the event, along with research students Vikas Dwivedi, Ratan Kushwaha, Pranjal Sachan, Saksham Trivedi, Neha Porwal, Ujjwal, and Vishal Yadav.
