Prime Minister Narendra Modi Receives Russia’s Highest State Award

In a grand ceremony held at St. Andrew Hall in the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin honored Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the prestigious Order of St. Andrew the Apostle award. This esteemed recognition acknowledges Prime Minister Modi’s significant contributions to strengthening the bilateral ties between India and Russia.

The award, announced in 2019, was presented to Prime Minister Modi in a special ceremony on July 9, 2024. While accepting the honor, Prime Minister Modi dedicated it to the people of India and acknowledged the long-standing friendship between the two nations. He emphasized that this recognition highlights the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia.

The Order of St. Andrew the Apostle is Russia’s highest national award, established over 300 years ago. Prime Minister Narendra Modi becomes the first Indian leader to receive this distinguished honor, underscoring the significance of the India-Russia partnership.

This award ceremony reinforces the strong bond between the two nations and acknowledges Prime Minister Modi’s efforts in fostering a robust and strategic relationship with Russia.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Vladimir Putin visited the Rosatom Pavilion at the All Russian Exhibition Centre, VDNKh, in Moscow.

The Rosatom Pavilion, one of the largest exhibitions on scientific and technological developments, was inaugurated in November 2023. Prime Minister Modi witnessed a photo exhibition showcasing India-Russia cooperation in civil nuclear energy. He was also shown the “Atomic Symphony,” a working model of the VVER-1000 reactor, a key component of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in India.

The leaders interacted with Indian and Russian students, encouraging them to explore future possibilities in science and technology for the benefit of future generations and the planet. This visit highlights the strong partnership between India and Russia in the fields of science, technology, and energy.
